Biography

Emily Rose Wenman is a young British soprano currently training with acclaimed mezzo Leah-Marian Jones at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. A lively and committed performer, Emily has wide-ranging experience in sacred, operatic and musical theatre repertoire. The Christmas season starts early in the singing industry, and is very much underway for me already! I've got lots of exciting things coming up - here are my highlights over the next few months:

The Turn of the Screw @ RWCMD (October 30th/31st 2014)

Students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama present a new production of Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the Screw. Henry James's dark story has long fascinated readers - is it ghost story or a tale of a woman's descent into madness? Either way, you'll be in for a thrill if you celebrate Hallowe'en with us in the Dora Stoutzker Concert Hall on October 30th/31st. Emily will sing the role of Flora. Cond. William Shaw. Dir. Elgar's Dream of Gerontius with the BBC National Chorus of Wales/Bristol Choral Society (November 7th/November 29th, 2014)

Emily will sing in the semichorus of Elgar's Dream of Gerontius with the BBC National Chorus of Wales at St David's Hall in Cardiff, cond. Mark Wigglesworth. The semichorus will also be singing the work with Bristol Choral Society at Colston Hall, Bristol on November 29th, cond. Adrian Partington. Tickets for St David's Hall and Colston Hall.

A Tribute to Stephen Sondheim in the RWCMD foyer (November 13th, 2014)

Emily will perform excerpts from Sondheim's Passion, Sunday in the Park with George and Merrily We Roll Along with fellow students from the RWCMD Vocal Department. Free to all; just pull up a seat in the foyer at 6.30pm.

Handel's Messiah with Thornbury Choral Society (November 22nd, 2014)

Emily will make her debut as the soprano soloist in Handel's Messiah, conducted by Steven Kings. Further info here.

Saint-Saens' Christmas Oratorio with Genesis Chorale (December 6th, 2014)

Emily will make her debut as the soprano 2 soloist in Saint-Saens' Christmas Oratorio, conducted by Lewis Gaston. Further info here.
